CaRMS Second Iteration
AIMGs who are assessed by and pass the AIMG Program assessment but do not get matched to a residency program may be eligible to apply to the second iteration CaRMS for residency training in Alberta in the current cycle year.
It is your sole responsibility to apply to and complete the CaRMS application process and supply all documents required by CaRMS. The AIMG Program office does not forward any of the required documents to CaRMS on your behalf.
The Post Graduate Education offices (the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary) and the Canadian Residency Matching Service (CaRMS) will be notified by the AIMG Program office that you are eligible to apply to second iteration CaRMS in Alberta.
If you were assessed in a previous AIMG Program cycle, passed and did not match, in order to be eligible and apply to the second iteration CaRMS, candidates must re-establish their status with the AIMG Program by reapplying online in the current application cycle. Note that AIMG Program policy (effective 2008) allows OSCE / MMI results to be valid for three consecutive years.
The CaRMS second iteration match commitment does not apply to AIMGs in Alberta who are unsuccessful in Externship.
If you have accepted an AIMGP Externship position in Alberta, you are required to withdraw your CaRMS application.
